Pre-School Room

Our welcoming Pre-School unit holds up to 59 children split between two very spacious, bright and clean rooms. Upper pre-school can hold up to 30 children each session and Lowers can hold up to 29 children each session.

We offer a wide range of stimulating, fun and educational activities involving children and parents ideas. The qualified Early Years Teacher inputs to the planning and preparing all children ready for their adventure to school. All activities are planned with support from the Early Years Teacher and an education theme is followed throughout.

We try to ensure we make regular trips out in to the local community as much as we can. We have a highly dedicated team who go above and beyond to ensure you and your child will have the best Pre-School experience and become as prepared for school as possible.

Preparation for school is very important at Little Explorers, and in order to maintain a high quality of education our staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, Every Child Matters, under the guidance and advice from the early years team.

We also have a company called Sports for All who come into the setting and spend time delivering educational sports sessions for both Pre-School rooms. The coach focuses on listening skills, balancing, color co-ordination and mathematic activities. We are currently in the process of looking for a suitable language for the Pre-School children.

All pre-school work is only conducted in a happy and relaxed atmosphere with no undue pressure being put upon any child to participate. The children follow the “Jolly Phonics” literacy scheme to help with understanding of letter names and sounds. Profiles are kept on every child who attends Little Explorers and these are available for parents to view and discuss at any time.

Monitoring and Reports

Play plans are completed weekly and displayed enabling parents to view activities on a daily basis.
Reports are sent home each term to inform you of the termly activities that your child will have the opportunity to be engaged in and how you can help them at home; it will also show your child’s individual set targets throughout the

The children in the Pre-school unit have continuous access to outdoor play. We feel it is important for this to occur and understand that some parents prefer their child to stay indoors; however, we must assure parents that no child is forced to play outside, it is out of choice. During cold months the child must have coat, gloves, a hat and a cap, and sun cream for the summer months. Failure to supply these may cause your child to be unable to participate in full outdoor activities.
